Pacific Dental Conference 2014 in Review

Pacific Dental Conference 2014 - A Fantastic Turnout, A Wonderful Opportunity to Meet Familiar and New Faces!

The annual Pacific Dental Conference is one of Canadian dentistry's major events and ClearDent is a regular participant because it gives us the chance to meet with both familiar and new faces.  We're pleased to say this year was one of our best yet! With over 12,000 attendees, the Vancouver Convention Centre was THE place to be on March 6 & 7. It's also inspiring to see many like-minded people who share the same passion and drive when it comes to driving innovation in dentistry - from technology to advances in health science.

As always, we were very pleased and humbled to see both new and familiar faces. ClearDent strives to provide the best service possible, but we rarely have the opportunity to our customers meet face-to-face. PDC was a wonderful opportunity to finally meet all of you!

PDC Party @ Steamworks Microbrewery & Pub

Our annual PDC party was a hit once again! Savory canap├ęs, friendly ambience, and great people! Thanks to everyone who came by and made it a memorable evening, as well as topping up the ballot box.

We've been doing the ballot drive annually during both the Pacific Dental Conference (Vancouver) and Annual Spring Meeting (Toronto). For each ballot completed, ClearDent donates 30¢ to a charity.  This year, we doubled down and donated to two charities: AboutFace and the Toothfairy Gala + BCDA Awards.  Each charity receives 30¢ for each completed ballot.

Also, we thank David Roche, the Inspirational Humorist, from AboutFace, and Dr. Bill Brymer from UBC Dentistry (UBC Community Outreach Program is the Toothfairy Gala 2014 beneficiary) for their moving speeches and their participation in our charity ballot drive initiative.

Save the date and be sure to join us again next year, as we always host THE party to be at, year after year!

Our Booth @ PDC

We tried to push the bar this year in being unique as we used innovative fold-able furniture made from cardboard! We combined the furniture from chairigami and molo design with our own custom design - the result is both eye-catching, easy to work with and transport, and best of all, environmental friendly.

As well, MSI Computers Canada also supplied us with their new line of touchscreen PC's, the super slim Adora. People were raving about how thin, light, and gorgeous these systems looked. More importantly, the flicker-free screen displayed the ClearDent software and the digital
x-rays just beautifully while reducing the eye-strains.

We also introduced our concept software design using Microsoft Kinect, to show visitors our new innovative hands free control system. The potential of this is huge - when ready for market, not only will this system improve infection control when working with electronics, as there is no longer a need to "touch," but also significantly increase patient interaction, and therefore, improve patient education and case acceptance. Needless to say, people were impressed and some even tried it themselves.  Take a look at the video below for a glimpse of what this concept system does:

And of course, people couldn't wait to snatch up the famous ClearDent timers!

The Toothfairy Gala and Giving Back

Our very own Peter Li attended the Toothfairy Gala this year, benefiting the UBC Dentistry Community Outreach Programs.

This fund rasing event always brings out passionate people together supporting a great cause, and it's a wonderful way to close out the Pacific Dental Conference.

So firstly, our congratulations to the winners of the BCDA awards!

As well, it was nice in this more relaxed event to see some familiar faces at the elegant gala as well - here's Peter with Dr. Richard Wilczek.

The evening would not be complete without a visit from the Toothfairy herself! We also want to thank Christi from Watermark Dental in sharing a photo-op with Peter - great to see you!

The popular cake auction was once again a hit! Delicious designer cakes were auctioned off with proceeds going to a wonderful cause. As always, ClearDent teamed up with Dr. Varma, Dr. Bellamy, Dr. Wilczeck, and Drs. Lathangue & Tasso (Watermark Dental Group), and we won cake #4 at $5,400.

All in all - an evening to remember.

The Toothfairy Gala, along with AboutFace, are two amazing charities we support year after year. We are proud to be associated with them as they do amazing work. So far, we've raised $900 from the ballot drive to each charity! Thank you to everyone who has filled out a ballot to help their cause!

Next Up: Ontario Dental Association Annual Spring Meeting 2014

ClearDent will be Toronto bound! We will once again be attending the Ontario Dental Association Annual Spring Meeting 2014. For any of our customers who couldn't attend PDC, but will be heading to ASM, we hope to see you all on May 8-10! As always, we will be having our account reps, trainers, and implementation specialists on hand to answer any of your questions.

Also, the booth layout will be different than PDC, so we will be doing our best to once again push the envelope in innovative booth design. Be sure to visit us at Booth 739 to see what we've come up with!

Once again, we'll be hosting our kick-off party at one of Toronto's most iconic restaurants - Joe Badali's! Free drinks and hors d'oeuvres will be served all night as we relax in a 100 year old, heritage building with a homely feel, perfectly contrasted with contemporary and authentic Italian decor. This restaurant is only a few steps away from the Toronto Convention Centre, so you have no excuse not to come!

Spaces are limited so register now!
