ClearDent Version 9 Preview Access Program

Frequently Asked Questions 

What is the Preview Access?

You can think of our limited Preview Access similar to a private tasting at your favourite restaurant, where the executive chef invites you to experiment a new menu not yet available to general public in order to fine tune the dishes. All the dishes on the new menu are of fine quality, but there could be a few things that can be tweaked and the chef would only know for sure what those tweaks should be after getting some real feedback during the private tasting.

In ClearDent's case, we are offering the preview to:
  • Get feedback on the new features and see what last minute tweaking we can do to make what’s good great before the final release. 
  • Find out how people are learning the new features so we can prepare appropriate training videos and summary documentations that will make sure the upgrade will pay dividends immediately because we've prepared sufficient documentations to make the new features easy to learn and easy to master. 
  • Learn in advance what are other new features that you'd like us to get started right away after the official release of version 9. 
  • Take out trivial, but somehow missed bugs before the final release. 

What's the advantage?

Think of joining the Preview Access like getting a head start - you will be able to learn new features and start taking advantage of them before others. In addition to that, during the duration of the preview program, your office will get priority service so we can get to know your feedback quicker. More importantly, if your feedback is something we can incorporate before the final release, then the final release will feature your suggestion and it’s almost like a customized ClearDent just for you.

Is there a fee?

No, all updates of ClearDent are FREE, including Preview Access.

Is this a beta version?

No, beta version means the version of the software just passed the bare minimum quality assurance criteria. Preview Access means the version of the software has passed all the quality assurance criteria. Although it's not a guarantee that the version in the Preview Access is bug free, it is very unlikely to have any bugs that can be business crippling. Most of the bugs, if identified, will be cosmetic or slight inconvenience in the user interface that still needs some polishing before we can call it a complete product (which is why we want to hear from you now!)

When does the Preview Access end?

End of August or when official release is available, whichever comes first. During the Preview Access, if there are little or no bugs reported and the feedback are generally about minor stuff, we will end the Preview Access early and release version 9 to all customers.

Is the Preview Access first come, first serve?

Partially, while signing up early will mean we receive your request first, we also review the following (but not limited to) criteria to ensure this early access is a fit for your practice:
  • The number of staff in your practice. 
  • Your current hardware specification. 
  • If the openings have all been taken - it's a limited Preview Access and we will only be accepting 5 dental practices. 

What's New in ClearDent Version 9

There are a total of 982 changes between the latest version 8 (8.4.34) and version 9. Below are the highlights of the changes:

New Charting Engine 

  • New high-resolution drawings - charts are now crisp, sharp, and looks great on monitors large or small. 
  • Restorative drawings such as fillings are even more anatomically correct. 
  • Fully customizable with the ability to specify your own colours, patterns, and even brand new drawings (charges may apply) 
  • And more. 
New Clinical Notes Entry

Decision Based Clinical Notes

  • Two level clinical notes let you further categorize your templates 
  • Templates now can read information from the database, including the treatment information so composing a note such as "Composite on Tooth #36 on MOD" can be fully automated. 
  • Templates now can also incorporate user defined fields such as prompting you with a list of checkboxes for types of occlusion, plaque buildup, anaesthetics used, etc. 
  • Notes entry has been combined with treatment list so you can see a list of treatments and notes, images, exams, and more at the same time. 
  • And more. 

Revamped Letter Manager

  • Improved stability and also new spell checker that will ignore spellings of text pulled from the database (e.g., patient names, which sometimes don't exist in the common English dictionary). 
  • New option for image placeholder, which now you can preset a maximum size and ClearWrite will automatically resize the patient image proportionally when inserted into the said placeholder 
  • Dynamic custom fields that will allow you to automate letter writing with multiple choices similar to the clinical notes. 

Enhanced Scheduler, Treatment Plan, and Referral

    New Appointment Booking Screen
  • Future appointments for the entire family will be listed before the booking is confirmed. 
  • More search option in the Treatment Plan Manager to help identify stalled treatment plans. 
  • Referral can be searched easily across the entire system. 

New Practice Performance Reports

  • Routing Slip to have a "condensed" view of a patient or a family of patients of their current and upcoming treatment plans, current and upcoming recalls, and insurance and financial information. 
  • Chart Audit report that will display a patient, an arbitrary list of patients (such as a family of patients or a list of patients for a specific provider) their most up-to-date recalls, hygiene, last Pan, last BW, last PA, etc. 
  • And other new reports. 

Expanded Support to New Digital X-ray Sensors and Pans + New Features

  • Improved support for Vatech Pan/Ceph, SUNI, SOPIX, Schick 33 
  • Quick access to mount and new presentation mode.

New Improvements to ClearConnect

We’re excited to announce some very positive changes to our ClearConnect service. The new changes are being rolled out gradually, but some of them will require activation by giving us a call.

Beautiful New Design Gallery for Emails + New Features:

Below are the three most well received new email templates that are elegant, effective, and patients just love them:

Grey Theme
Perfect for mono-coloured or text logo
Dental Theme
Best fit for office with patterned, multiple-coloured logo and would like to include a subtle promotion in the image area for the patients
Grey Theme with Map
Suitable for mono-coloured or text logo, and provides immediate direction to the practice – best used during office move or new builds
Also, with these new templates, the patients are able to:

  • Follow links to your Facebook, Twitter, Google+ and a variety of other social media networks that your dental practice is on.
  • Add the appointment to his/her calendar software wherever the email is viewed (on a desktop computer, tablet, or a smartphone).
  • Get map/direction to the dental practice via Google or Bing.
  • Instantly refer another patient to your office (requires a Clinicbook or an OpenCare account).

Use your own voice!

In addition to the new email templates, we'd also like to remind our customers using automated voice phone call feature to take advantage of the free upgrade to use your own voice instead of robotic computer voice. This upgrade is free and based on the statistics collected in the last 12-month, the confirmation rate using voice has increased at least 15% after the switch. Further, most patients really love hearing the voice they are familiar with - yours!
